Rondout Harbor
The museums and many of the stores are open only for the summer. Passenger ships still dock at this old harbor, their passengers disembarking to stroll the West Strand, looking for gifts. But the Rondout offers much more than just gifts: excellent restaurants, two museums, and several galleries.Uptown Kingston.   Saugerties.

Walking tour
The old harbor has a fair number of parts, so it's a pleasant walk. The old shopfronts have been repainted, and make an excellent backdrop for a harbor walk.

Storefronts and signs
Along the harbor front, signs show a yearning for the sea. There's a wistfulness about them. But further up Broadway the galleries lend an air of sophistcation.
