The mid-Hudson Valley has a new town by adoption: Osa, Japan.

The two towns, New Paltz and Osa, have sent teams to visit each other. During the visit of one of the Osa teams to New Paltz I got to know Kiyoshi Yamauchi, the team's translator. I am excited by this connection to a community on the other side of the globe, so recently I asked Mr. Yamauchi to send me some pictures of Osa, to post here.

Here are two of his pictures:

He sent me also some brochures published by Osa. In response to my request for permission to post pictures from those brochures, I received the folllowing post from Ms. Tomoko Isoda of Osa:

Dear Shaun Johnston

...I heard of your question about pictures of Osa from Mr. Yamauchi. I'm glad to hear that you are trying to put the pictures of Osa into your site.

We open those materials to the public, and everyone can use them. So you don't need any special permission from us. I'm looking forward to seeing the pictures of our town in your site.

Sincerely yours,
Tomoko Isoda
Osa Board of Education

Thank you, Ms. Isoda.

On the next few pages are some photos from those brochures to bring us a flavor of this, our new neighbor.
